COME, FOLLOW ME

So much has been said about “calling” and “purpose”...

   and “What is my destiny?”

Yet, I read, He called and said to the people:

   “Come and follow Me!”

He said, Where I go, you don’t yet know;

   This isn’t a cup you can drink...

But, I will send My Spirit to you...

   so that you will know what I think.

Then, He promised so many things:

   ‘I will never leave or forsake you’;

‘I will give you, freely, My Righteousness’;

   ‘I’ll protect you in all that you do’. 

Have we taken this beautiful simplicity...

   this Perfect Law of Liberty,

and made it a rule of what we must do...

   so others will glorify me?

I wonder...Am I still following Him...

   or trying to do the commands of men?

Do I hear myself what He’s saying to me...

   or is all concentration my destiny? 

I know that He spread the Good New of His Kingdom;

   So, following ‘that’ must be for me;

He said to ask, “that His Kingdom would come”;

   Is ‘that’ then my destiny...

to walk in a place of Heaven on Earth?

   Is that the thing that I am to birth?

I suspect, as I meditate, this takes place...

   in the Kingdom within me first.

I step back quickly from complexity;

   In my strength, it’s designed to kill;

I’ve found, His strength’s in simplicity...

   as He clearly tells me His will. 

His Kingdom within me so wants to rebel;

   Yet, it’s fed my body a living hell;

He paid for my health, so...will I follow Him...

   not destroying my body again and again?

He’s paid for Sin, which completed health;

   So, to follow Him, is to not kill myself...

by allowing any dictate to be:

   ruling the wholeness He’s committed to me. 

Following Him, means He went there first...

   and He said it is His good pleasure...

to give to His children, His Domain...

   to walk in with Him forever. 

He just said to me: 

   “You can’t drink My cup...

But, you can drink Me and I’ll fill you up.”

if I refuse to let birth His Kingdom in me.
