If I Would
There is coming a new thing in the land,
I hear the heaven proclaim:
The King is coming, if you would,
in your spirit to rule and to reign.
Your spirit desired to bow down before Me
but your mind demands what is fair.
The “Angel of Light” has had His way,
His gifts make you Lord of Care.
I am so sorry that, in that place,
my life has produced much fruit;
In gathering allies, in pleading my case,
that resulted in child abuse.
To train up a child in how they should go
is not with many words.
Rather, getting in order, submitting myself
and doing what I’ve already heard.
Satan’s plan is that I will reign
and he’ll lift me up with pride.
I am no match;
This appeals to my strength.
There’s only one place to abide:
To humble myself before God’s mighty hand,
is to submit and get on with His plan.
He’s already promised that He won’t waiver
and I can walk in unmerited favor.
The prison doors swing open wide,
but to walk through this threshold,
I can’t bring my pride.
It’s only His strength that can walk this way;
So important to hear what He has to say.
This Angel of Light, that reflected his face,
has been able to subtly fool me.
I’ve walked in his strength of “right” and “wrong”
and “fairness” was all I could see.
Why would I not rather suffer wrong,
completely disarmed this strongman.
His strength was cut off; He can not understand
God’s submission to a Lamb.
I thought I was free, well on my way,
that He loved to hear what I have to say.
Then, He spoke on the matter,
His words went right through me;
He showed me His love and completely secured me
into His arms with His sure, steady way,
In this place of peace where I heard Him say:
My love, because I could swear by no greater,
I took an oath of Myself; By all that I Am,
and I’ll never change,
I give you My blessings and multiplied gain!
