Remember
Remember how it was
when you first became His?
The sky seemed a different color;
There wasn’t anything impossible
for you;
with this new found Love of each other.
This was the very greatest romance;
Nothing to fear; nothing left to chance.
Each morning, a bubbling expectation;
He was your greatest anticipation.
Your burdens were gone;
You were paid for and free;
But, now, when I look in your eyes, I see...
A disappointment; almost a remorse;
Are you going to be able to finish the coarse?
Romance produces an abandoning
to every challenge that would keep you from Me.
I wonder what happened?
Where did “First Love” go?
My Protector; My Champion;
it seems as thou...
The sky went back to depressing grey;
I don’t want as much to hear what You say.
(A lot like marriages I see today).
But, that shouldn’t be in Our unity;
I’ve been told, “This is growing up”.
I always think, when I hear that reply:
One major cover-up!
Their First Love is slipping;
Perhaps, even gone;
If this is maturing,
something’s radically wrong!
If my quest for First Love is fantasy;
If to not let the embers die...
is the way of fools; Then, I’ll be a fool;
Without You, I cannot survive!
The coals carried about upon their heads,
I thought, first, was to light their fires;
If mine are out, when I’m walking about;
maybe that’s why so many ‘retired’.
That can’t be the quest; That can’t be the goal;
I remember First Love; It consumes the cold.
It makes me know, when all else is wrong,
Our love lights the night and We sing Our song.
And, what a love it has grown to be;
First Love will stay strong through maturity!
I can’t reach out, yet and touch a body;
But, my spirit is able to see...
all of the places that First Love will go
with that kind of intimacy.
This eliminates “need” to walk with someone;
Yet, if that ever happens, the two will be one.
What a unity that could be: Two First Love’s
expressing intimacy!
Will First Love carry me beyond today
and supercede all of man’s reason?
Will it be exciting and stay ever strong,
in the summer and winter season?
That’s what ‘agape’ says it will do,
as First Love’s seed germinates;
It won’t go away but, rather, envelopes
each other to stimulate...
All of the things only Love can do;
All of His promises told to you.
